Shakespeare and Scholarships
It’s that time of year again, it’s play time. And if you’re new to my blog you don’t know that Sunshine didn’t want to try out for Beauty and the Beast as a freshman and then loved it. How she wanted to quit because it was so much work, and eventually how much fun she had at the performances. She was a plate and was adorable. Then she was chorus in West Side Story, then Chava in Fiddler on the Roof and now she’s Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing.
It’s Shakespeare and it’s hard. She’s a senior and everything is hard. She’s frustrated and tired and I’m unreasonable, plus she got a job. Yes, my friends, I told Sunshine if she stayed here this summer she’d have to get a job so she did. more on that later
On top of all that I’m trying to film her doing two monologues for a scholarship entry and the deadline is this Friday. Yes, I’m unreasonable. Look, I’m not asking her to do laundry, the dishes, or even pick up her room, I’m asking her to apply for free money to help pay for college.
It’s another one of those things I’m “forcing” her to do, but if she wins it, like the part in B&tB, then all this hard work and nagging is worth it.
You might have a go-getter kid and good for you, (no, really, good for you.)but mine needs a little nudge to get going sometimes.
